Our Story

The Newark Campus Business & Industry Institute offers opportunities for innovative partnerships between
higher education and businesses. By making quality training programs available to employers, we’re working
to strengthen our area’s workforce. The Newark Chamber of Commerce reports that finding qualified workers
is the chief concern among area business leaders. They want and expect their staff members to
be flexible, proficient, and committed to lifelong learning. That’s where we come in.

The Business and Industry Institute leads the region in meeting the demand for highly trained workers. 
Through strategic alliances and customized programs, we provide a full range of educational options. 
For example, we can help you address specific problem areas such as basic skills, occupational development
and management training to increase employee productivity. Furthermore, we can assist you in raising the
competency level of your company’s workforce and provide customized mid-career and executive educational
programs, seminars and workshops.

Our Mission

The mission of the Business & Industry Institute is to improve the regional economy through the development
of a well-trained workforce and to provide area businesses with the state-of-the-art training resources of
Central Ohio Technical College and The Ohio State University Newark.
